No Summer Reruns Here
Just when you thought it was safe to read Tom's blog again. . .Yeah, I'm back. I'm in a slightly better mood these days. Slightly.Been muddling through the first summer session here at the Dub. Going all right, for the most part.Working at various desks across campus, making some bank.Checking out the Deftones and CKY (Camp Kill Yourself) in Myrtle Beach next month. As far I as I can hear, this crazy new stuff from CKY, as much as I can't catagorize it, sounds a lot better than the stuff the Deftones have been putting out recently. Don't get me wrong, I love hearing lyrics recited over a wall of guitars with a bit of faux death metal/hip-hop screams mixed in for good measure every track on a CD. That's what the Deftones do, they do it well, and it sounds good. But CKY sounds like 70's punk had an orgy with 70's metal and birthed something prettier than Lemmy. They even have that knack for the apocalyptic, like old Dead Kennedys.Sorry, I'm enamored. Enough esoteric musical references for one night. This is really just a filler, to let everyone know I'm still alive and I'm not nearly as pissed off as I was at the time of my last communique.Look for another entry coming up soon about the women that drive me crazy. And this time, the gloves are off and we go beyond euphamisms. That's right: we're using real names this time kiddies. Should be a scorcher.I've got another 45 minutes to kill on this desk shift. As if on cue, the movie that the Orientation kids and the Orientation Leaders just got out. It is now loud in here and any small desire I had to write before is now faded even more. I'm not sure who's louder, the kids or the OLs.They're all good people though. And if you give an OL chocolate covered peanuts, they'll remember your name and bug the crap out of you for the rest of the night. It's kind of fun actually.I wish there was a TV at this desk. I send half of my 4AM to 8AM shift in the hall I work in watching Saved By the Bell reruns. They're back to the first proper SBtB season now on WTBS. Good Saturday Morning eye and ear candy.Well, my thumbs are hating the busted space bar on this crappy QuietKey deal I have to use. I miss my PS2 keyboard something awful. So that's it for tonight kids.Hasta Lumbago,Tom
