Upcoming changes

Hey everybody! I’m going to be tweaking the site a bit this week. The main site here will stay the same. I’m kind of happy with the static page for the SlamCast. I don’t know about the listeners, so I’ll solicit feedback on Sunday’s show.
I’ll probably add static pages for extended links, favorite crap, and pictures, like the old site had. That way, I’ll have a sandbox to work on that kind of stuff in. I should also add my resume. You never know when the ax will come down ;)
Speaking of pictures, I’m considering getting a digital camera. Now, just having a camera would be boring, as I don’t do much and you can’t bring a digital camera into Ring of Honor shows (don’t ask me why you can’t as I don’t rutting know). To justify this acquisition, I want to take random pictures of random stuff and put it up on Flickr. Hey, some cats collect stamps.
Oh, and some cats are really nice to their friend Tom, and they subscribe to his podcast in iTunes and listen occasionally. They’re also so nice that they vote for the show he and Charlie Dreamer kill themselves over on Podcast Alley.
Aren’t nice cats great?
Speaking of nice, don’t the Google ads look nice? Hey, don’t bounce! Once I add more content, they’ll be out of the way for the most part (see the SlamCast page for example), and they help pay the bills. We can use them to help get more domain names and equipment for SlamCast, chip in towards the bills of the tomtostanoski.com team (whom I promise you’ll meet this week) and drum up fabulous prizes for readers and listeners. We know you like prizes, right? Right? So, if you see something that pops you, click on it. Don’t click randomly or a lot, as that’ll get us all in trouble. And since the ads are supposed to reflect what we’re talking about here, you might see something you like.
I’ll make the same promise I made with the old site: No ads on the blog pages! That content is for you to enjoy ad-free forever. If you dig the blogs, I trust you’ll come back to the main site and peep some ads, because you’re nice cats.
I love my readers!
The blogs are also getting a shakeup. As cool as a central application that ran multiple blogs seems, it’s got a lot of drawbacks. For example, I can’t get Nucleus to give Amanda a proper RSS feed. She admittedly doesn’t feel there’s any reason for her to have one, but I want one! I want to know exactly when she blogs because I’m a smitten geek like that )
Also, the theme development for Nucleus has been slow. More work is being done on WordPress and Blogger, and I respect one of those systems (hint: you’re looking at it). Amanda’s also demanded emoticons (”smileys”) and better image support. I’m ) sure ;) this P should ( suffice D !
Thus, Nucleus is on its way out, and separate WordPress blogs are on their way in. I hope to make the switch on the existing blogs this weekend. I’ll also be adding a blog for indie wrestler Charlie Dreamer, my co-host on SlamCast. We welcome Charlie to the tomtostanoski.com family and both he and Amanda will be speaking to you this week.
I’ve already thanked the listeners of SlamCast for our placement on iTunes (top four wrestling podcasts baby!), but I felt I should mention it here. We are blowing up thanks to iTunes. Their podcast feature needs a lot of work (and I do mean a lot), but we are getting great exposure thanks to it and it’s cool that Apple has given this boost to the podcasting revolution. I’ll eventually post a file with the shows that I subscribe to once I figure out how to kick OMPL (the format it comes in) into high gear.
That’s all for now. Time to stop rambling. I’ll probably blog later, after I’ve shoved some lean ground beef into my headhole. Yummy yummy ;)
