Doesn't look like I'm sleeping tonight

So, I'll blog again.  Qumana, I salute you.  Getting me hooked on blogging again by making it simple for me.  I wonder if an open source editor this robust will show up.

There's a positive balance in my account again.  Gotta be frugal though.  Vacation coming up, and gas doesn't come cheap, though it will be cheaper once I get out of New York.  If I gas in South Jersey, Northern Virginia and somewhere in Northern Cackalackie, I should make out all right.  I like the drive too.  Even the boring parts.  I'll have lots of episodes of Coverville to make it through.

Yeah, I'm really behind on my podcasts.  I no longer have my carpool to work, as I didn't get the shift I wanted, so will have more drive time each week.  Sure, I'll end up paying more in gas, but I'll get through my podcasts more efficiently.

The new Killers song is really quite good.  Not listening to the radio separates me from the few mainstream modern bands that I really dig.  Heard some of the song on the iTunes podcast and preordered the album.  12 buck nets me the album, the video for the single, a digital booklet (basically liner notes) and a bonus track.  Yeah, it's tied up in DRM, but I've accepted that consumer rights no longer exist in this country and at least Apple is transparent about the DRM terms.

I also do eMusic now.  Not a huge fan of mp3, but it's universal at this point and easy to ship sans-DRM.  I get 90 tracks from them each month for 90 bucks and they don't explode if I stop paying.  They've got lots of Henry Rollins spoken word, Negativland, They Might Be Giants and other crazy stuff.  Good way to acquire music legally and cheap.

I plan on getting a haircut later today.  Still have no idea as to the style I'm going for.  Might take it down short and spike it again, but that's boring.  Been there, done that.  Never got any suggestions.  Last chance peeps.

I've now got the entire second season of Lost authored on the Linux box.  Since I don't like sitting at the desktop during the hot summer months, it's nicer to be able to author dvds on the stationary machine and wander with the PowerBook.  I never thought I'd be successfully authoring in Ubuntu.  It's amazing how far that OS has come in a year.  Might blog that later.

Today is weigh in day.  I've lost around 25 pounds, which is about 1/4 or 1/5 of goal.  I don't know if I want to hit 220 or 200 yet.  I'll decide once I hit 10%, which I hope to see soon.

I miss doing these random thoughts entries.  I need to do them more often, and I likely will.  I think I'll be blogging my vacation too, even though I'll be off the grid for the bulk of it.  Maybe I'll do some wardriving in Downtown Wilmington and post there.  Or find out if anyone knows the wep key for the Blockade Runner's wifi.

I think I'm going to chill for tonight.  This is a lot of words, and I know that you Americans have short attention spans ;)

Have a good night all, and Hasta Lumbago.
