Frustrations, or Tom starts a new project
Apologies for the delay. After nearly completing the entry that was initially intended to appear here, I did something wrong (which would be right elsewhere) and lost my entire post.I no longer have the energy or the desire to attempt to recreate the post. Further apologies for that. In my frustration, I have located an open-source (free as in speech and free as in beer) publishing app called Graymatter. I'll be working on getting said app up and running on my site. If it works well and I can make it look nice (visual appeal is why I chose Blogger in the first place), this blog will go the way of the dinosaur, the leisure suit and Calista Flockhart. Otherwise, I'll stay here until I can afford Movable Type (so pricey proprietary software is). For those curious, Graymatter is a Perl-based publishing app. It uses flat text files rather than MySQL for it's database. Due to that and to the reliance on Perl, it's supposed to be slow to build blogs. This, however, causes no issues for visitors to the blog and would only inconvenience myself. And since I love you guys, it would be well worth waiting for the page to build so I could have better tools and you guys would have more frequent updates. I'll post both here and on the main site about when the testing build goes up. Since Graymatter supports comments, I'll let you guys be the judge (though I get to be the jury and make the final decision. Sounds backwards, but so is the US Legal System). I might post later if my frustration dies down more and if I'm not too tired after the documentary I'm going to see tonight. Otherwise, I'll be back later in the week.
