Doctor Who,or Why Tom hates US TV

I think it's truly telling of the current state of US television when the only programme I'm watching only airs in the UK and Canada. I've been feindishly pulling down episodes of Doctor Who. This new incarnation of the British series that once ran for twenty years nearly uninterrupted is fantastic, as The Doctor would say. I've found it to be leaps and bounds better than anything airing on US TV, not just in the realm of Sci-Fi. Yes, I still like The Shield, but I haven't watched in some time (must get the media box going). I'll also continue to watch Degrassi when it returns, but that's also not a US show.

American TV, you've failed one of your deepest devotees. I've gone from shows like The X-Files and Seinfeld that I would go out of my way to see, to having next to nothing. Most shows that I take a liking to get cancelled in short order (The Lone Gunmen, Three, Clerks, Dilbert) or lose their luster in sad fashion (The Sopranos, Family Guy, Enterprise). I fear that if I start watching Battlestar Galactica, they'll cancel it or send it right over the shark.

Yes, my luck is that bad.

I'll be waiting for another episode to download, then it's off to bed. New job tomorrow. Excited and nervous.

That is all.
